Patient Decision Aids
Patient decision aids help a person being treated for medical problem and their practitioner to make appropriate decisions about taking a medical test or any kind of diagnostic procedure. When facing multiple options, or uncertain outcomes and harms the decision aids help patients choose the optimal path they should take with their care by making decisions based on their personal preferences and values.
Example below is an Australian screening mammography decision trial where researchers from the University of Sydney have compiled the available evidence in the area of mammography screening and created the patient decision aid. The intention is to provide you with unbiased information so that you can make a decision after considering the evidence.
